Certified Arborist Reports
An arborist report is the formal opinion of an arborist on the health and condition of a tree, or a report on the effects a site's conditions have on trees or the tree canopy. A formal arborist report can only be written by a Certified Arborist. A Certified Arborist is an arborist who is certified by the International Society of Arboriculture. The certification process consists of rigorous testing followed by a yearly continuing education requirement.
Arborist reports are used for many varied purposes. The most common purpose is to obtain a permit for the pruning or removal of a tree. Most other uses include but are not limited to: personal injury lawsuits, property development plans, property purchase negotiations, neighbor dispute resolution, insurance claims, and municipal condemnation of hazardous trees. The purpose of the report will affect the content and the risk involved, and therefore affect the price. Arborist reports must conclude with the name, signature, and certification number of the arborists issuing the report.
Should your situation require that a tree be valued, you will need a report done by a consulting arborist. These arborists are registered through the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA).
